CHINESE PISTACHIO
The Oklahoma hot dry summers prove that Chinese Pistache is well adapted to Oklahoma. During our hottest summers the Pistache trees have not even turned on leaf brown. They are very tap rooted and can be planted close to drive ways and patios without danger to the concrete. In the late summer the female trees have hundreds of blue and red berries that a treat for many kinds of birds. The male trees have no berries. Both types have brilliant red and orange fall color. When they are young the two types can not be distinguished. The small leaves usually don't need to be ranked after they fall. If you need a medium size tree then you might consider the Chinese Pistachio.
